HISTORY

Coke was just five cents, hamburgers were only twenty-five cents and E. C. Henningsen along with his son T. G. Henningsen decided to start a "seal coat" and asphalt paving business in Atlantic, Iowa. Quite an undertaking today or in 1949 at just 49 and 22 years of age.

Today, Henningsen Construction, Inc. is still based in Atlantic, Iowa and has grown to over 150 employees and 350 pieces of equipment.  The same ideals of honesty and hard work that show up in our company today are directly related to our history.

In the early 1950's, Henningsen Construction (then primarily an asphalt paving company) began selling and erecting Stran Steel Buildings, and Quonset Hut-style Buildings. Quonset huts are the pre-fabricated, hangar-style, arched metal buildings.  Since then Henningsen Construction quickly grew into one of the premier Pre-Engineered Metal Building Erectors in the Midwest.  Under the guidance of Mike Henningsen, son of Tom, Henningsen Construction held the distinction of being one of the top five dealers in the nation for accumulated sales.  Now under the leadership of Brad Henningsen, the 4th generation in the Henningsen family ownership tree, Henningsen Construction continues to build upon that storied tradition and solid foundation of consistency seldom seen in the construction industry.

We have completed over 2,350 projects in the Industrial, Agricultural, Manufacturing, Institutional, and Commercial markets.  Many of those projects being with returning customers.  We take great pride in building these relationships; some of which have been with us for all 4 generations!  None of this would be possible if not for the quality and workmanship of our field crews.  It is because of the experience and dedication of those crews, along with our in-house personnel, that we are able to deliver our projects on-time and on-budget.  In today''s world we understand how rare and important that is.
